The Prison, Case Study Building

hm the time now is 0434 am.. and i am writing this post..been doing the group project much lately.. its a site analysis and a case study of a building.. and bless my group, we got to do tropical buildings.. but, thank God we found a building in singapore, its United Medicare Centre at Toa Payoh.. basically its a nursing home for elderly, housing 242 beds, 85percent are female.. we visited the nursing home this afternoon.. hmm, my first impression was.. well, that look like a prison.. with all the steel bars and narrow corridors.. hee, but anyway its a good design.. though level 2 and 3 are steam area.. the ventilation is poor at these two levels.. but as we move up, there's more air circulation, 4, 5, 6 are better.. Anyway, the worst was the lift.. wonder why the speed is so _____ slow.. we found the sunshading devices of the building, somewhat.. maybe misleading, hee, need further evidence to proof it works..

Pros:
-Very cheap maintenace of building(only aircon on level 1)the rest are fans and "natural ventilated" spaces
-Interesting "Cage" design, but seriously the air ventilated space at level 4 is quite cool
-Architect responds to climatic conditions, or should i said, tried to;p
-There's a interaction space at level 1 that can be airconditioned as well as natural ventilated
-Services are all covered and located at edges of building
-Air well 55percent successfully
-Staircase very well ventilated

Cons:
-Narrow spaces, prison design
-Lift too damm slow
-Sunshading may not work
-Spaces cramped

hmm, in personal view, this building is alrite.. if got more airconditioned spaces, it will be good.. wanna give the eldery comfort, since they are so old already.. why make them suntanned and sweat?;p the sunshading devices clinged on the building makes it stand out.. looks impressive at night.. it can be further improved though..

Anyway, if anyone here wish to emm.. lossen some excess weight, try walking, or running, it really helps.. oh, at 3 to 4.. you really pespire, especially when its damm humid.. walked from site to Toa Payoh Central, 10 mins, and woah.. its good training already.. my rest of the team took a cab><, well.. nvm;p

Below are a few pics of the building and also Site.Enjoy;)
