lets get this straight and easy to read. On the 25/11/2004, we experience floods, for the first time in our lives. The water was to our waist level, and chilly...
our program for that day was to visit the orphanage and spend time and have fun with them. it went pretty well, i have fun with the kids there, had to carry two or 3 of them with my bare arms, like doing 20 pullups in one go, also had to carry them and run, it was a pretty good experience talking and playing with the kids there. I give up my compass for the kids there too...
After leaving the orphanage for dinner, our bus got stuck in mud, the two front wheels couldnt moved. We finally got out after 1 hour by having a oil tanker dragging the bus out. Thus dinner came.
After dinner, the whole team receive word that our home are flooding, this got the whole team pretty worried and charged up.. along the way we saw floods coming on the roads.. but nothing prepares for the real thing..
We reached the village's entrance, what awaits us are dark water. The guys charged into the cold water, and to the main house. 10 of the guys, including me, went to the guys bunks to salavage the stuffs in our bunk. We manage to reach the bunk unscattered though the dirt road has already been covered with water to our waist. We just took whatever we could, and went back to the bus. Alan and i made the final journey back to the main house, by this time almost all the stuffs have been cleared.. we cleared up and left. The water was getting higher and colder, and we are getting more tensed. One girl, Nurul, keep screaming and crying over her stuffs, unnerving us... luckily, we got into the bus and left for a destination to stay for the night. I applied first aid to some onf our teammates wounds and cuts, but all was alright. We manage to stay in a hotel for the night.. it was heaven, aircon, hot water, tv.. hee, it was a blessing in disguise though.
Next day, we went to orphanage again, half of our bags were gone, still locked in the village. We manage to stay there, and by nite, we salavage all what we could by going to the village. the flood subside, but all over vietnam the floods are getting worst. 2 people have died from it.
Today, we are forced out of the guest house as we are not legal to stayed there, and again our stuffs are not all complete. The gals and some of the guys are upset by the sudden change, but i believe we have to stay strong for a few more days. Wed we will all pull thru, cause its the last day;) before we fly to siagon. Got to go.. time is running out, situation is pretty chaotic now.. will update soon if i have the chance again.
